#25 Yuri Liapkin

Yuri Liapkin was the Soviet's highest scoring blueliner, and arguably the best Soviet defender ever. He also was a major influence on the strong Soviet powerplay. He was also the defenseman on the ice who failed to clear Paul Henderson out of the slot when he scored "The Goal Heard Around The World"

"It turned out to be my worst nightmare. Now all these years later everyone knows that Paul Henderson scored when Yuri Liapkin gave up the puck." - Yuri Liapkin
