1972 Summit Series
Oddball Items

I'm sure this section will grow over time  It will contain some of the weirder collectible items featuring the 1972 Summit Series.

The oddest I've found so far is "Colgate Heads" pictured below.

These little plastic heads of Team Canada 1972 members were found in tubes of Colgate Toothpaste back around the time of the 1972 Summit Series. Sixteen members of Team Canada members were honored with a "Colgate Head." That would be A LOT of toothpaste if you were able to collect all of the heads simply by buying toothpaste!

Here is what Beckett Magazine had to say about these odd little things:

"The 16 hockey collectables in this set measure approximately 1 1/4" in height with a base of 7/8" and are made out of cream-coloured or beige plastic. The promotion lasted approximately 5 months during the winter of 1972. The busts were issued in series of four in the various sizes of Colgate Toothpaste. The player's last name is found only on the back of the base of the head. The checklist is unnumbered." (Thanks to Dan Pavic)

Dennis Kane has this odd Russian doll:
